ABSTRACT:

The social, economic, and health effects on the victims of gender-based violence (GBV) are severe and are a persistent global problem. In this study, the researcher examined the effectiveness of Anti- Violence Against Women and Their Children Act- a law in the Philippines. This paper examines the existing law, identifying their benefits and drawbacks in tackling GBV through a thorough assessment of the literature and empirical data. The study also examines the difficulties and hindrances encountered by the victims when trying to access justice, looking at how the law is actually put into practice. The analysis shows that even the Philippines have made great progress toward passing thorough GBV laws, enforcement and implementation still have some gaps. Inadequate support services, stigma, and a lack of knowledge of victim’s rights are just a few of the systemic challenges they continue to face. The pursuit of justice may also be hampered by cultural norms. The research also emphasizes how important it is for the victims to have access to support services and community-based groups. To close the gap between the law and the realworld experiences of victims, law enforcement, healthcare professionals, and civil society must work together. This study’s results highlight how critical the strict implementation of the law and ensure that it is properly put into practice. Improvements in victims’ access to justice and the global fight against gender-based violence require addressing institutional obstacles and offering extensive support services.
