Open-ended Mathematics Problems to Prompt Student’s Creativity as a part of Merdeka Curriculum’s Implementation in Indonesia

ABSTRACT:
Merdeka Curriculum had been widely applied in Indonesia’s schools. Creative thinking, as part of higher order thinking skills, was one of the important competencies demanded in Merdeka Curriculum Implementation. Open-ended problem was one of the kind of problems prompted creativity. Preliminary research showed that students learning reference took from the book published by Kemendikbudristek, so they had never had experience to deal with open-ended mathematics problems. This research aimed to develop open-ended based questions as formative assessments. The procedure consists of preliminary research phase, prototyping phase, and assessment phase. The prototype was validated before field tested. The validation score was 3,7 of 4. The practical test was 3,7 of 4. The problems developed were also effective, which meant the problems assessed students creative thinking skills well. The finding of this research was the open-ended mathematics problems support the implementation of Merdeka Curriculum and might be the alternative assessment for teachers.
