The Use of Sign Language Shows on Arabic Satellite Channels Among Deaf and Dumb

ABSTRACT: 

The issue of disability has recently gained great international attention, particularly from the mass media in the age of plethora of Arabic satellite channels and therefore, tendency from some of them to pay attention to people with disability in term of allocating TV shows translated to sign language. This study aims to reveal uses of those programs by those people. In addition to identify habits, patterns, and intensity of exposure of Yemeni people with disabilities to programs translated to sign language in Arabic satellite channels. As well as Measuring the impact of interfering variables that may affect uses of those programs by respondents. The uses of gratifications will be used to examine the questions and hypotheses of the study.
This study belongs to the descriptive studies. The researchers will use the survey in this study to fulfills its objectives. This study will be applied to three hundred respondents of people with disability from three Yemeni governorates including Sana’a, Aden, and Taiz.
