The Relationship between Perceived Domestic Violence and Quality of Sexual Relations among Women Filing for Divorce in Court of Law, Mofatteh Branch in Tehran

ABSTRACT: 

The present study explored the relationship between perceived domestic violence and the quality of sexual relations among women filing for divorce in Court of Law, Mofatteh Branch in Tehran. To this end, a descriptive-correlational research design was employed. The research population included all women filing for divorce in Court of Law, Mofatteh Branch in Tehran, of whom a total number of 100 women were selected as the respondents in the research sample using purposeful sampling. To do so, 100 women who were exposed to domestic violence and referred to the court to apply for divorce during a one-month period were selected as the research sample and two questionnaires (Domestic Violence Questionnaire and Sexual Relation Quality Scale) were administered to them. The results of the data analysis showed that there is a negative significant relationship between perceived domestic violence and the quality of sexual relations, so that domestic violence was found to be able to predict 34% of the variances in the quality of sexual relations among women filing for divorce. Besides, emotional, physical, and sexual abuse as the components of domestic valance had a significant role in this prediction.
