A Case Study of Enhancing Innovation Programs through a Platform Developed by Academics

Abstract

Data management in institutions is a unique issue, with challenges and obstacles proportional to the segment and size of the organizations. In the education sector, this concept holds true, even more so in a group of universities with more than 18 institutions and dozens of campuses across Brazil, with almost 400,000 students enrolled. This article demonstrates a case where a data management platform was developed and implemented by faculty and students. The software was applied to project management within the Ânima HUB innovation program, where more than 80,000 students have already had opportunities to participate in various initiatives. The project began its implementation in 2023 and continues to this day. Initially, it managed 225 projects and currently manages 1274, a scalability of over 460%. In addition to project data management, the platform has evolved as a software as a service, providing web tools for generating SWOT matrices, 5W2H, Canvas, and other project management tools. These capabilities consolidate the agility and optimization of academic project processes focused on technological innovation, in an agile manner, based on a project created, implemented, and managed by academic staff and students.
