Abstract

The evolution of business analytics (BA) technologies has necessitated a recalibration of educational practices to meet the industry's dynamic requirements. This research examines the application of the Technology-Organization-Environment (TOE) framework to assess the essential skills, tools, and organizational support required for implementing Business Analytics (BA) in academic and professional settings. Employing a mixed-methods research design, a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) was conducted, encompassing 63 peer-reviewed articles, in conjunction with a web scraping analysis of 315 contemporary job postings via the JSearch API. The literature review reveals widespread application of the TOE framework in research on BA adoption. An analysis of job postings identifies critical competencies, including expertise in tools such as Python, SQL, and Tableau, as well as vital soft skills in communication and leadership, along with specific certifications such as the Certified Analytics Professional. Moreover, this study examines how educational technologies, including Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs), Learning Management Systems (LMS), and virtual laboratories, serve as conduits for cultivating these competencies. The results underscore the importance of aligning curriculum development with the workforce's requirements by integrating project-based learning, simulation environments, and adaptive instructional methods. These approaches facilitate the enhancement of both technical and organizational competencies. The present study provides actionable recommendations for curriculum designers and educators to strengthen the connection between analytics education and readiness for real-world applications.
