Abstract

This study aims to identify the effects of AI on the present and future of the tourist experience. The study utilizes a document analysis technique. The documents examined were generated by the researcher using the AI tools Gemini, ChatGPT, and Claude. The responses of the relevant AI tools under the given commands were evaluated by the researcher, and the findings are presented under the main themes of current positive and negative impacts and future positive and negative impacts. The findings show that the three AI systems are in strong agreement on personalization, 24/7 digital support, reducing language barriers, and time management; AI makes the tourist experience more controlled and predictable by reducing cognitive load and psychological stress caused by uncertainty. However, this increase in efficiency can lead to the erosion of emotional and cultural dimensions through elements such as homogenization of the experience, weakening of human interaction, data security, and manipulation risks. Future assessments indicate that AI will transform tourism into integrated, predictive, and “invisible” experience architecture, strengthening sustainability; however, they also point to more structural risks such as job losses, digital inequality, and the luxuries of human-centered experiences.
