ABSTRACT:

For three decades, in Latin America, virtual education has become an important tool to meet those who do not have the possibility of accessing education personally, either due to contextual or economic conditions in terms of coverage, practices and institutions, and student learning. Virtual education has had great growth at all levels of education through various forms and manifestations; dynamics that are very broad and complex, since they influence multiple fields such as pedagogy, technology, organization, law, and economics; among others. Thus, questions about learning resources, assessment systems and accreditation processes – which are part of a continuous process – require reflection and analysis. Given this situation, it is important to analyze the panorama of virtual education in Latin America in terms of issues related to the factors that affect virtual education, such as the identification of strategies, didactic resources, accessibility and demand, public investment management and adaptation strategies to new technologies; as well as the institutional structures and the impact of virtual education before and after the pandemic generated by COVID-19 to better understand these models in the field of education. It is for this reason that this research focuses on the question: What has been the panorama of virtual education in Latin America before and after the COVID-19 pandemic? As a way of analyzing the aforementioned factors before and after the global health emergency through a review of 85 documents to know the panorama that is lived or has been lived in this modality of education in ten years.
