Mathematical literacy is not only in mastering mathematical material. But comes to the use of mathematics in solving PISA-like problems. The study aimed to determine the mathematical literacy ability of prospective mathematics teacher students in Palembang. The method used in this research is the descriptive method. Data were collected through tests and interviews, tested on 6th semester Mathematics Education students at Universitas Sriwijaya, Raden Fatah State Islamic University Palembang, PGRI Palembang University, and the Muhammadiyah University of Palembang. This study’s results indicate that of prospective mathematics teachers at Universitas Sriwijaya students, 3.9% have very good abilities, 51.9% have good abilities, and 44.2% have poor abilities. Meanwhile, more than 50% of prospective mathematics teacher students at UIN Raden Fatah, PGRI Palembang University, and Muhammadiyah University Palembang have poor abilities.
