Leadership Within the Learning Co-Creation with Students in A Classroom: Applying Explorative Factor Analysis for Researching Teacher’ Experiences

ABSTRACT:
Literature on leadership indicates teacher’s personal and professional characteristics, skills, attitudes, leadership models. Research mostly focuses on fragments without addressing the school conditions that support teacher’s leadership and connecting it to learning co-creation.
Aim was to examine teacher experiences of leadership practice within the learning co-creation with students.
In the survey participated 830 teachers from various school types. The tool consisted of 92 statements. SPSS 21.0 was used for statistical processing of data. Exploratory factor analysis (EFA) with principal components analysis and Varimax rotation method was implemented. An exploratory factor analysis with Varimax rotation revealed that 9 factors explained. 1st factor (33 items) reflects teaching experiences at school and common initiatives of teacher and students, which help to seek for high achievements and create cooperative learning space. 2nd (21 items) is focused on teacher’s working context, experienced respect and trust of school community. 3rd (12 items) accentuates the importance of learning context and situation. 4th (15 items) shows teacher’s ability to take responsibility for leadership at school by collaborating with colleagues. 5th (10 items) reveals teacher’s leadership for consolidating school community. 6th (7 items) explores students’ respect to teacher. 7th (8 items) reflects relationship between student’s cultural, social, linguistic context with personal learning. 8th (3 items) is focused on teacher’s self-reflection and observation of students’ achievements. 9th (6 items) revealed teacher’s loyalty to profession, students and their families, and to school.
