ABSTRACT:

Online learning platforms were employed to assist both synchronous and asynchronous education, allowing teachers to have greater interactions and create a more conducive learning atmosphere in institutions during this time of Covid-19 pandemic. This research was conducted to look into how Microsoft (MS) Teams as a learning management system for online teaching and learning works in Pangasinan State University.  Specifically, the study aimed to describe the perception of faculty on the effectiveness and perception of students on the usefulness of Microsoft Teams application. Problems encountered on the use of Microsoft Teams were identified. The descriptive-quantitative method of research was used. Faculty members and students from the nine (9) campuses of PSU were selected at random and served as respondents of the study. A survey questionnaire was formulated to obtain the required data. Data gathered were tallied and analyzed using frequency counts, weighted means, correlation analysis and ranking. Findings of the study revealed that Pangasinan State University faculty members use Microsoft Teams as an effective learning management system which is used for online teaching and learning. However, faculty members should look into strategies on how to attract students’ attention to continue learning. On the part of students, usefulness of the Microsoft Teams application for teaching and learning is on the average. Unstable internet connectivity, noises/disturbances in the environment, unexpected power interruption and low specification of device are the common problems encountered by both faculty members and students during online classes regardless of their demographic profile.
